Katrina Kat Peralta-Patel

Katrina “Kat” Peralta-Patel

Qualified ProfessionalEmail: katrina@ryansplaceclt.com Ext: 113

For as long as I can remember, I always had a heart for caregiving. My first experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities was for Warren Special Recreation Association as a summer camp counselor. During this time, I quickly learned how to provide appropriate care to children with Down Syndrome, Autism, and Cerebral Palsy. My experience left a lasting impact on me and I knew this was a population I wanted to serve. This motivated me to pursue a masters in Therapeutic Recreation from State University of New York at Cortland. Through this program, I was an intern at Marion Diehl Recreation Center. I was given the opportunity to develop and cultivate various skills: creativity, goal development and program implementation. I utilized my hands-on experience in the role of a Direct Support Professional for four years after completion. As a DSP, I worked closely with members and their families, providing community living and support, community networking, and respite services. Observing the growth and progress of my clients motivated me to be better and grow in my supporting role. As of recent development, I joined the Ryan’s Place team as a QP. I look forward to putting into practice the knowledge and skills I have developed throughout the years. I strive to navigate the world by listening to the lived experiences of others and inspire a person-centered mindset that regards human beings for who they are. Everyone deserves a world of possibilities regardless of their ability!
